#ifap irc -- What to do when attacked. Introduction I've made this guide since most of you are unaware of what steps need to be taken when attacked by join/part flood or CTCP flood attacks. It is a simple process; I'll try my best to make it simpler to grasp. JOIN/PART FLOOD BOT ATTACK This is when we have replicating Bots joining and parting the channel, causing a heavy network stress and flood. It looks somewhat like this; CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has joined #ifap CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has left #ifap #ifap irc How to dowload it? #ifap irc CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has joined #ifap CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has left #ifap CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has joined #ifap CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has left #ifap CCCCCCC (CCC!Mibbit@blabla.blabla.com) has joined #ifap CCJJJJkkkk (Ckasa!Mibbit@blalba.com) has joined #ifap CASJCAS (casa!Mibbit@bals.com) has joined #ifap And so on. #ifap irc How to get it for free? #ifap irc Now, what you want to do when this happens. Step 1) Set the channel to invite-only. -> /mode +i #ifap Step 2) Kick everybody out from the channel, except the operators. Step 3) Set an invite on *!Mibbit@* so anyone using www.isexychat.com to connect to #ifap, can do so. -> /mode +I *!Mibbit@* #ifap irc PasteShr #ifap irc Step 4) Set a higher join/part interval. Say, one join per minute. -> /mode -j -> /mode +j 1:60 (mode +j [number of joins]:[number of seconds]) Step 5) Mute the channel, and unset channel invite-only. -> /mode +m #ifap -> /mode -i #ifap Step 6) Now, the regular lot which connects to #ifap via www.isexychat.com will be allowed to enter, but not speak. You may allow them to speak by unsetting channel mode +m (/mode -m #ifap). In a matter of thirty minutes, remove the invitation for *!Mibbit@*, so we test whether the Bots have stopped the attack. #ifap irc PasteShr #ifap irc -> /mode -I *!Mibbit@* (A) If the Bots have stopped the attack; cool. It is over. (B) If it persists, set the channel to invite-only again. It is possible that all Bots use the same connection. Copy down their IP and ban it. Then, un-set channel modes invite-only. If the attack persists, set invitation on *!Mibbit@* once again. -x-x-x- CTCP/NOTICE FLOOD ATTACKS These are directed towards channel operators. It is really easy to avoid. #ifap irc How to use it? #ifap irc All you have to do is; /mode +TR -x-x-x- -- Props to Apex for making this. #ifap irc
