There are currently 26 accessible Traits: 21 Characteristic Traits (Generate naturally in the wild, but can also be passed down via breeding) 5 Bred Traits (Can only be acquired by domestic Nephelym, as a direct result of breeding) Characteristic Traits [ edit | edit source ] All Characteristic Traits have three tiers, with increasing effects as tiers increase. They all have beneficial effects which improve the holder's usefulness to the player in some way - boosting their usefulness when breeding, speeding up experience gain, and so on. A Trait's tier on a given Nephelym is represented by a roman numeral on the icon's upper-right corner: I, II, and III for tiers 1, 2, and 3, respectively. These numerals are also color-coded: I (1) is a bronzed brown, II (2) is a silvery gray, and III (3) is a golden yellow The number of Characteristic Traits a Nephelym has, and the levels of those Traits, are reflected in the Nephelym's listed rarity. At higher World Levels, wild Nephelym will spawn with more Characteristic Traits on average, and also begin to appear with higher-tiered versions of these Traits. In addition to unlocking higher tiers of Traits in the first place, these higher-tiered versions will also gradually appear with greater frequency. Some Traits can only ever appear on wild Nephelym with a World Level of 2 or more. These Traits include: Debauched, Hedonist, Juicy, Kindhearted, Nurturing, Nymphomaniac, Potent, Efficient, and Valuable. The number of distinct Traits any wild Nephelym can naturally possess appears to be capped at 5. The chance of passing on a given Trait depends on how many of the parents have the Trait in question. The chance of each Trait being passed on is further increased by the presence of the "Potent" Trait in either or both parents; this effect strengthens depending on the tier of the Potent Trait in each parent. The chance of each Trait being passed on can sometimes also be increased by meeting the Preferences of a Nephelym, if they have any. If a particular Trait is only present in one parent, an offspring who gets that Trait can only ever have the first tier, regardless of which tier the carrying parent has. i.e. One parent with Hornball III and one parent without Hornball can only ever pass Hornball I to their offspring (if they pass it on at all). i.e. One parent with Hornball III and one parent with Hornball I could pass Hornball I, Hornball II, or Hornball III to their offspring (if they pass it on at all). i.e. Two parents with Hornball II can only ever pass Hornball II to their offspring (if they pass it on at all). In the lists below, tiered Traits have their tier-related differences split up as (Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3/etc.) wherever relevant. Bred Traits [ edit | edit source ] Bred Traits have no tiers, except for Desire, which has five. Like the Characteristic Traits, Desire's tier is represented with a roman numeral in the upper-right corner: I, II, III, IV, and V for tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. Unlike the Characteristic Traits, Desire's numerals are not color-coded; at all tiers, they are the same shade of white as the Desire icon. All Bred Traits have their own unique rules as to whether or not they will be present in new offspring. Gemini is entirely random, and always has the same slim chance to appear in every new offspring. Atypical has no intrinsic effect, and instead appears to let the player know that a Nephelym is not the default size for its variant. Size differences occur because breeding two Nephelym of different sizes will produce offspring with a randomly chosen size between (and including) the size categories of each parent. This means two Atypical parents can produce a non-Atypical offspring in the right conditions - i.e. an Atypical (Massive) Foxen and an Atypical (Tiny) Foxen might produce a Normal-sized Foxen, which would not be given the Atypical Trait because its size matches that of wild Foxen. This also applies to offspring which have been conceived via "Wild Sex" with Nephelym that have been designated as Wanderers around the farm. Desire appears in all offspring for which the Breeder (the player character) is a parent. Desire also appears in all offspring for which a Nephelym with Desire is a parent. Whenever Desire is given to an offspring, it can have any tier between the Desire tiers of its parents - with the exception that, if one parent lacks Desire, they are treated as if they had a Desire tier of I (1). Whenever the Breeder is a parent, their "tier" of Desire, for the purposes of determining a Desire tier in offspring, appears to depend on the Breeder's level. This all seems to imply that Desire is, functionally speaking, a special sort of Characteristic Trait whose only point of origin is the Breeder. Removed Traits [ edit | edit source ] Some Traits have been removed from the game, directly or indirectly, over the course of development. The following Traits are all inaccessible in the current version - either due to the Trait being entirely removed/disabled, or as a result of updates which make it impossible to meet the conditions necessary for the Trait to appear in normal gameplay. (removable through cleaning at the Public Bath) Note: "Incestuous breeding," in this circumstance, refers to any pairing in which the Giver and the Receiver share at least one direct parent, and/or any pairing in which one member is a direct parent of the other. The June 2021 update (and onwards) prohibits incest using these exact same criteria, so Nephelym spawned after this update are never Sterile or Abominations. However, these two Traits still work as intended on any Nephelym which already had them prior to updating, as well as any Nephelym which gained them afterwards via game/save editing.
